ArtVentures is currently offering adult classes in Woodburning, Watercolor, and Intro to 2-D Design. Woodburning is on April 28th, Watercolor is ongoing and 2-D begins May 5th. The children's classes include Ink Techniques beginning April 28th, Basic Photography Techniques begining May 5th and Kreative Kids beginning May 16th. We are thrilled to announce that ArtVentures has received a Gratiot County Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council grant to fund a pilot mentoring program between Alma College art students and county youth!

Alma College student Josh Gove, majoring in art and design, was awarded a grant to begin a youth-to-youth mentoring program through ArtVentures. The goal of the program is to expose young artists to a higher level of talent by pairing an Alma College art major with an artist under 18 years of age to work in a specific medium. The college students and young artists will be matched according to the artists' art interests and the college students' art expertise.

The program lasts for five weeks until April 20 with tuition and supplies paid for by the grant. After the mentees are paired with their mentors, the mentors meet with parents and students to set goals for the projects and times to meet. All classes are conducted at ArtVentures, 107 E. Superior St., Alma.

The deadline for applications is March 15 and applications must be turned in at ArtVentures. The applications are available from area schools art teachers and here on ArtVentures' website. Parents can also receive an application by visiting ArtVentures Wednesday-Friday 11 a.m.-7 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; and Sunday 1-4 p.m. ArtVentures is closed Monday and Tuesday.
