Please join us for a closing reception and artists' talk for Metaphysical Manifestations, an exhibit by three CMU Art and Design Professors, on Saturday, April 28 from 3-5 p.m. at ArtVentures in downtown Alma.
Steve Barber, Michael Volker and Al Wildey will deliver talks about the work that has been described as images that convey meaning beyond the physical world portrayed. In the exhibit, the artists have chosen to display works depicting everyday scenes that have an added spiritual dimension. In addition to individually created pieces the artists have collaborated on several works.

The closing reception for the ArtVentures exhibit "Translucent Silence" is scheduled for Sunday, April 1, from 1-3 p.m. at ArtVentures, 107 E. Superior St., Alma. The public is invited to meet the artists and discuss their work, and refreshments will be provided.
"Translucent Silence" celebrates the beauty of winter interpreted by the works of artists from the mid-Michigan counties including watercolors by Diane Clise of Alma; Laurie Lehman of Stanton; and Barbara Zimmerman of Midland; and oils by Bev Adams of Crystal and LuVerne Dickenson Adamson of Vestaburg. Photography by Oakley Traynor of Vestaburg; Genevieve Wolfrum of Harrison; and Amy Velazco of St. Louis interpret the season by capturing scenes lit by the delicate late afternoon sun. The wood burning art of Steven Hawkes of Elwell is on display with several other mixed media artists.
Beginning April 11th, ArtVentures will be hosting a Young Artists Exhibition from the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Program. To recognize National Child Abuse Awareness Month in April, as well as to raise awareness about the depth of this problem, CASA has developed the Art of Healing Project. This Project provides a vehicle for children affected by violence to express their emotions by painting on canvas. Mid-Michigan children, along with their Special Advocates, have created these expressive "masterpieces" which will be on display at ArtVentures through the end of April. An Opening Reception for these Young Artists and their Advocates will take place on Friday evening, April 13th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at ArtVentures. Come meet these artists and see their powerful messages that they convey through "The Art of Healing"...
ArtVentures is celebrating Youth Art Month in March with an exhibit from our area students....Alma, Ithaca and St. Louis. We have about 50 pieces for the youth art show. The show will continue until Sunday, April 1, and will close with a reception for the students and their families.
